Sky suspend Angel Reese following critical comments of team

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese issued a public apology on Thursday following some critical comments she made regarding the team's roster and where it needs to improve this offseason. That apology was not enough to keep her from facing some punishment from the organization.

Sky suspend Angel Reese for first half of Sunday's game

Reese was already facing a one-game suspension from the WNBA for accumulating too many technical fouls, and she was serving that suspension on Friday against the Indiana Fever. Now she will also miss the first half of Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Aces due to a team-imposed suspension.

On one hand, it is understandable why some Sky players and the organization would be sensitive to any sort of criticism from their best player. Sitting her for one half isn't really anything huge and seems more like a slap on the wrist than anything else. She's still going to play.

But Reese still shouldn't have to apologize for what she said.

Angel Reese just seems tired of losing

The comments that led to all of this attention were made by Reese to the Chicago Tribune this week and revolved around her desire to win. She put out a call to the organization to acquire better players this offseason, and said she wasn't going to accept what the team was doing this season.

Nor should she.

Nor should the organization.

The Sky have been one of the WNBA's worst teams over the past two years, and it should go without saying that getting better players has to be a priority. As the team's best player, she is somebody in a position of power to push for that sort of change. She used her power and voice to do that. Now nobody seems to be happy about it.
