Kevin Durant's former coach thinks Victor Wembanyama will be a NBA Hall of Famer

It's almost time for Victor Wembanyama to take center stage in the NBA.

At 19 years old and coming from France, he still hasn't even played an NBA game yet, but some already believe he has what it takes to be a Hall of Famer, though.

For instance, Paris basketball coach Will Weaver, speaking to ESPN, seems to think there's no doubt.

"I believe he's going to be a Hall of Famer," Weaver said.

Weaver is not just some random coach, either. He's a former assistant with the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers.

"I coached Kevin Durant, Jarrett Allen. I've been around a lot of good, big men that have a lot of unique skills. I just see his professionalism and competitiveness," Weaver said of Wembanyama.

The expectations are high, and there's a reason for that. Wembanyama is a 7-foot-5 "unicorn" in that he has the height and wingspan of a player like Yao Ming but he has the outside shoot and ball handling ability of Steph Curry.

The league hasn't seen anything like him, so there's a ton of buzz around his potential—for good reason.

With that said, Wembanyama still needs to find out where he'll be drafted, and he'll find that out at the lottery, because he's the consensus No. 1 pick. He'll then need to play in the French league's playoffs, go to the 2023 NBA Draft, and then figure life out as a rookie in a strange country that will be absolutely fascinated and focused on him.

Wembanyama is a safe bet but he's no sure bet, especially considering the pressure he'll undoubtedly be under at such a young age.

Still, on the night of the lottery in Chicago, it's worth noting that the coveted star put on a show. He put up 22 points as his Boulogne-Levallois team won, 93-85. With the lights of the NBA waiting and distraction and pressure undoubtedly on his mind, he put up 14 points in the fourth quarter to help his team win.

If that's how Wembanyama deals with pressure in the NBA, he really will be a superstar.
