Major update emerges about Bradley Beal's future with Suns

The Phoenix Suns finalized a trade on Sunday to send Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets as part of a record seven-team deal, and it appears they are inching closer to moving on from another one of their star players.

Bradley Beal has been mentioned as a trade candidate since the deadline in February, but he is 32, coming off a down season and owed $110M over the next two years. A recent report suggested a buyout between Beal and the Suns is more likely, and the two sides could be on the verge of an agreement.

NBA reporter Marc Stein said on Sunday night that Beal has been "actively exploring" potential fits with other teams in anticipation of having his contract bought out by the Suns.

Stein says the expectation is Beal will become a free agent and there will be "considerable interest" in the three-time All-Star.

Beal averaged just 17.0 points, 3.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game this season. He has had trouble staying healthy since the Washington Wizards traded him to Phoenix, as he played in just 53 games in each of the last two seasons.

There is at least one Western Conference playoff team that could have interest in Beal if and when the Suns reach a buyout agreement with the three-time All-Star.
