A deep dive into the youngest quarterback division in the NFL

The AFC South has undergone some changes under center in the past few seasons as the division now features four starting quarterbacks who are 24 years old or younger. The AFC South could serve as the premiere quarterback division in the NFL for the future. Here is a deep dive into its young upcoming stars.

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars | 24 years old

Going into 2023-24 season, Lawrence was seen as one of the best young rising stars at the quarterback position. This opinion changed after Lawrence had an injury-riddled season, going 8-3 to start the season and then 1-5 to finish. Lawrence needs to produce next season as he could be playing for a new contract in Jacksonville. He is still seen as a talented prospect but has more to prove if he wants to stay competitive in a tough division.

Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts | 21 years old

At the start of the past campaign, Richardson looked like an early favorite for Offensive Rookie of the Year, accounting for 713 total yards and seven touchdowns in his first four games. An injury to his right shoulder ended his season early. Richardson showed enough of his talent before getting injured that the fans in Indianapolis can be excited about the young prospect, but the former Florida signal-caller will have to stay healthy if he wants to develop into the Colts franchise quarterback.

Will Levis, Tennessee Titans | 24 years old

Levis did not open the season as the starter but was able to take over as Ryan Tannehill dealt with injuries throughout the season. Levis' biggest highlight of the season was a double-digit comeback versus the Miami Dolphins in which he threw for 327 yards and a touchdown. Consistency has been a problem with Levis early in his career, but the Titans are all-in on the former Kentucky Wildcat, having added WR Calvin Ridley, RB Tony Pollard and WR Tyler Boyd this offseason. Levis will have all the weapons he needs to succeed in Nashville.

C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans | 22 years old

Stroud had one of the greatest rookie seasons in NFL history, leading the Texans to a 10-7 record and their first playoff win since 2019. Stroud has put himself in the driver's seat of the AFC South and could hold onto it for a while. Houston added a major weapon this offseason with the addition of three-time Pro Bowl WR Stefon Diggs. Stroud and the Texans are not just the favorite to win its division next season, but also a favorite to challenge the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC.
