Joe Rogan says Jake Paul should fear 'savage mode' Mike Tyson

There’s a sizeable contingency of boxing fans who don’t like Jake Paul’s (9-1) chances against former WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO and The Ring heavyweight champion Mike Tyson (50-6) during their scheduled bout on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Count UFC commentator Joe Rogan among them, as the former “Fear Factor” host-turned-podcaster recently stated that Paul should be quite concerned heading into his bout with who many consider the greatest heavyweight boxer of all-time.

“[Tyson is] in savage mode,” Rogan said on a recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience.” “If I was Jake Paul right now, I would be [expletive] my pants. He’s terrifying when he’s in the zone.”

Tyson recently told “The Damon Elliott Show” that he’s been eating raw meat, which he said explains his physique — one that Elliott compared to when Tyson was in his 20s.

Tyson hasn’t fought professionally since a six-round decision loss to Kevin McBride in June 2005, though he fought Roy Jones Jr. to a draw in their November 2020 exhibition bout.

The soon-to-be 58-year-old admitted on Monday during a pre-fight news conference that his body is sore from his training camp in preparation for the July bout.

“Mike Tyson’s mind has switched over into war,” Rogan added. "He’s in this [expletive] mode. He’s in that God of War mode,’ and that he’s still got that in him.”

Though Paul will be 31 years younger than Tyson when they officially fight, he’s the more inexperienced boxer of the two. Of his 10 professional fights, only three have been against legitimate boxers — Tommy Fury, Andre August and Ryan Bourland.

August only had seven pro bouts when he lost to Paul in December, and Bourland hadn’t fought in nearly two years when he lost to Paul in February. Fury is the only fighter to beat Paul in his pro career.
