At varying points during his media availability on Tuesday at Miami Dolphins mandatory minicamp, receiver Tyreek Hill sounded both like a player who was unbothered by how much money he was making and one who wanted to be making more.
Following Justin Jefferson’s record new deal with the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus disclosed that he’d been in contact with the Dolphins about reworking Hill’s contract. Twenty-four hours later, Hill discussed the matter with reporters, explaining his side of wanting a new deal.
“I feel like, at the end of the day, if you feel like [you're] top five or something ... you're going to feel a certain type of way,” Hill said, via CBS Sports. “… I'm supposed to be the top-paid person. If you feel like you deserve something, go get it.”

Jefferson’s new $35M-per-year contract makes Hill now the fourth-highest paid WR in the NFL. Philadelphia’s A.J. Brown ($32M per year) and Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown ($30.02M per year) both make more, and both signed new deals this offseason too.
In the two seasons since Hill signed his then-record $30M-per-year contract with Miami, he’s put up back-to-back 119-catch, 1,700-yard seasons while scoring 20 touchdowns and being named a First Team All-Pro twice.
The Dolphins, who signed fellow receiver Jaylen Waddle to a three-year $84.75M contract last week, have approximately $18.8M in cap space. Reworking Hill’s deal would eat into a large chunk of that.
“I want to help the team as much as I can, and being greedy ain't going to help the team,” Hill added. “Whatever happens, happens.”
