U.S. Open golf: Let's get creative with 3 ways to bet Scottie Scheffler besides outright

If you're interested in betting on Scottie Scheffler to win the U.S. Open this week, we don't blame you. Scheffler has been utterly dominant for three months, and Pinehurst No. 2 is the perfect venue for him to separate from the pack with his elite ball striking.

To be frank, we're betting Scheffler to win as a single bullet this week, and you can read why here. But if his +333 price tag isn't juicy enough for you, we've identified three creative ways to back Scheffler this week that provide much better value.

Scheffler top-10 finish after Round 1 (+165 FanDuel)

Scheffler is extremely likely to finish inside the top 10 at the U.S. Open, but you can't lay -275 on something like that. You can, though, manipulate this market a bit and take Scheffler to finish 10th or better in the first round at +175.

One round of golf is a much more volatile sample size, but Scheffler ranks first on the PGA Tour this season in Round 1 scoring average (67.77). He also has the highest total strokes gained average in the first round of majors over the last eight tournaments. If you're worried about him playing in the afternoon when the course will be firm, Scheffler leads the Tour in late scoring average (67.95).

Bet the 'Winner without Scottie Scheffler' market

Maybe you love a few players in the outright market, but you're convinced Scheffler is going to continue his dominance and win his second major of the year. If that's the case, you have the option to bet the winner without Scheffler market.

Obviously, the odds will be worse than the regular outright market, but you protect yourself from Scheffler boat-racing the field. Your pick can finish in second place and still cash.

Collin Morikawa +1200
Cameron Smith +3300
Robert MacIntyre +10000

Bet Scheffler to win in a dual forecast

If you like to bet golf just for the massive potential payouts, a dual forecast will be right up your alley. Dual forecasts involve picking the exact winner and runner-up finisher. If you think Scheffler is going to cruise to victory this week, this is an easy market to try out.

Some of our favorites, via DraftKings:
Scheffler/Morikawa +3500
Scheffler/Koepka +5000
Scheffler/Smith +9000
