Stanley Cup Final: Will Florida's Evan Rodrigues score in Game 3?

In a Stanley Cup Final with big-name players on both sides, Evan Rodrigues has emerged as a pleasant surprise. Does that make him worth putting money on ahead of Game 3?

The Florida Panthers winger has moved up and down the lineup through the playoffs and, after a quiet series against the New York Rangers, he is firing on all cylinders through the first two Cup Final games of his career. Even so, there are eight players with shorter odds at DraftKings of finding the back of the net in Game 3.

Rodrigues is listed at +350 (7-2) odds of scoring again on Thursday in Edmonton. Here's why you should back him at those odds.

The Panthers are outscoring the Oilers 7-1 as the series moves to Rogers Place, and Rodrigues is a big part of that. The 30-year-old Toronto native has scored three goals in two games, tied for the most-ever by a player in his first two Cup Final games, per The Athletic

Those three goals are even more impressive considering that he has only tallied three shots on goal through those two games. So he has essentially — as Wayne Gretzky might say — made 100% of the shots he's taken.

Rodrigues's effectiveness can be attributed to his versatility. NHL.com points out that he played at least two minutes on three different lines in Game 2. NaturalStatTrick goes further to break down that he has played 64:03 on the third line, 97:46 on the second line and 10:36 on the top line through 19 playoff games.

That means Rodrigues is scoring regardless of whose wing he's on.

"Sometimes when you get put with different players, it gives you that little extra boost," Rodrigues told NHL.com.

Florida will need that boost if captain Aleksander Barkov -- who co-leads the team with 19 points alongside Matthew Tkachuk -- has to miss time after taking a high hit from Leon Draisaitl in Game 2.

With all of this in mind, backing Rodrigues to keep finding the back of the net is a good call. Regardless of where he plays in the lineup, this Panthers forward is proving to be a good scoring weapon and one worth putting money on.
