Sparks' Cameron Brink shares inspiring message amid injury news

If you're looking for inspiration in the face of adversity, look no further than Cameron Brink.

The Los Angeles Sparks forward was dealt a mighty blow on Tuesday when she tore the ACL in her left knee, putting an abrupt stop to her rookie campaign and ending her opportunity to compete for Team USA at the Paris Olympics next month. However, Brink made it clear in a social media post on Wednesday that she is keeping her chin up.

"This is hard to fathom but I know it will only make me stronger," Brink wrote. "It's not goodbye basketball, it's just see you later."

The 22-year-old was injured in the first quarter of the Sparks' 79-70 loss to the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. She played for under four minutes when she appeared to slip while driving to the basket. Brink went to the sidelines in obvious pain before being helped to the locker room by Sparks personnel.

Brink, the second overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, was averaging 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.5 blocks heading into Tuesday's tilt. Per ESPN, her blocks average was tied for second most in the league with Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson.

There is no word yet on when Brink will rejoin the team.

The Sparks continue their seven-game road trip on Thursday against the New York Liberty.
