Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Davante Adams displayed their special connection for eight years (2014-21) on the Green Bay Packers.
However, both players have since gone their separate ways. In 2022, the Packers traded Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. In 2023, they sent Rodgers to the New York Jets.
Neither player had the 2023 campaign they were hoping for. Adams finished the season with 1,144 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, which were his lowest marks since 2019, while Rodgers suffered a season-ending ankle injury on just his fourth offensive snap in Week 1.
As a result, Rodgers has been reminiscing of the good old days when he was still teammates with Adams and seems to believe they'll play together once again.
"I love Davante. Can't wait to play with him again," Rodgers said, via Vegas Sports Today.
When a potential reunion could happen is up for debate. Rodgers is signed through the 2025 season and Adams through the 2026 season.
Of course, that doesn't mean one couldn't be traded to the other's team, but it will be difficult to persuade the Jets or Raiders to give up one of their best players.
Not to mention, Rodgers' is nearing the end of his football career, as he'll turn 41 this season.
Still, that hasn't stopped the two from being hopeful about teaming up again in the near future. Adams says it's just unlikely to happen in 2024.
"He's in the ear, that's for sure, he's in the ear," Adams said on "Up & Adams." "But it's not as easy. Obviously, we can get together and talk about the old times and the potential of doing this and that, but like I said, I'm a Raider, and he knows that."
At this point, New York seems to be much closer to contending for a Super Bowl than Las Vegas, which makes Adams becoming a Jet much more realistic. Maybe that's a scenario that will play out next offseason.
