Coming off a 1-1 split with our Round 2 matchup bets for the Genesis Scottish Open, we're looking for a 2-0 sweep on Moving Day. Let's check out our two favorite matchup bets for Round 3 from The Renaissance Club.
First of all, shoutout to FanDuel for inciting chaos with this twin brother matchup for the third round. We'll gladly indulge.
Even though Rasmus is one spot ahead of his twin on the leaderboard, Nicolai has been the better player all-around player through two rounds. Nicolai has been fantastic with his ball striking, ranking eighth in the field in strokes gained on approach and 18th in strokes gained from off the tee. He's also gained an average of 0.93 strokes per round from putting.
As for Rasmus, most of his strokes have come from his short game. He ranks second in the field in strokes gained from around the green through two rounds, which is surprising because he's normally a below-average chipper. Rasmus has had luck on his side when it comes to his short game, but that will eventually crumble as the wind picks up on the weekend and his poor ball striking gets exposed.
Manassero is putting on a ball-striking clinic at The Renaissance Club through two rounds. The Italian is gaining an average of 5.03 strokes per round from tee to green, while no other player in the field has an average higher than 3.37. Manassero gained a jaw-dropping 5.17 strokes on approach alone in the second round en route to a 7-under 63. His putter has been ice cold, which is nothing new for him, but we trust the DP World Tour winner to keep up his stellar ball striking in the wind.
Im is also having a solid week, but this underdog price is too high on the player who's been the best tee-to-green player in the field by a wide margin. If the weather hits hard on Saturday, Manassero won't be fazed as a regular here in Europe.
