It's time to jump into 2024 The Open Championship odds as Royal Troon Golf Club hosts the final major championship of the year.
The last time Royal Troon hosted The Open Championship in 2016, Henrik Stenson out-dueled Phil Mickelson to win the Claret Jug by three shots at 20-under par in an epic final round.
Mickelson began the day a shot behind Stenson, and the American's six-under 65 was the second-lowest round of the day. However, Stenson's eight-under 63 on Sunday was one of the best final rounds in major championship history as the Swede and his trusty 3-wood prevailed.

Like every other tournament he has played in this season, Scottie Scheffler is the outright betting favorite this week at +450 odds to win his second major championship of 2024. The American has won six of his last 10 starts since switching to a mallet putter, including in his most recent start at the Travelers Championship where he defeated Tom Kim in a playoff.
Scheffler has a win at the Masters, a tie for eighth at the PGA Championship following his arrest that Friday morning prior to the second round and a tie for 41st at the U.S. Open in the majors this year. The Texas Longhorn tied for 23rd at last year's Open Championship at Royal Liverpool and is making his fourth start at The Open this week.
Rory McIlroy is second in the 2024 Open Championship odds at +750 to win his fifth major championship. The 2014 Open Championship winner at Royal Liverpool came excruciatingly close to winning the U.S. Open last month at Pinehurst No. 2 but came up just short following key short misses on the final few holes. In his only start since the U.S. Open, McIlroy tied for fourth at this weekend's 2024 Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club.
The Northern Irishman has finished in a tie for 15th or better in each of his last seven starts, including two wins at the Wells Fargo Championship and in the two-man team event with Shane Lowry at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. In his seven Open Championship starts since his win in 2014, McIlroy has five top-six finishes. He missed the 2015 Open Championship with an ankle injury, and the 2020 Open was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Champion Golfer of the Year, Brian Harman, enters with +6000 odds to win his second major championship of his career. The 37-year-old tied for 21st at the Genesis Scottish Open this weekend and has top-35 finishes in each of his last six starts, including the U.S. Open and PGA Championship.
The Georgia Bulldog contended most recently at THE PLAYERS Championship where he tied for second and finished a shot behind the winner, Scheffler, as his birdie bid to send the tournament to a playoff just missed on the 72nd hole. Harman's two best major results since 2017 have come in each of the last two years at The Open Championship as he won last year and tied for sixth in 2022 at St. Andrews.
Robert MacIntyre heads to The 152nd Open Championship in style after becoming the first Scot to win the Scottish Open in 25 years with his victory on Sunday. MacIntyre trickled in a 22-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole to win by a shot over Adam Scott as the 27-year-old from Oban, Scotland got redemption after finishing in second behind McIlroy at last year's Scottish Open.
The Scot is 25-1 to win his first major championship this week and has now won two of his last five starts on the PGA Tour after winning the RBC Canadian Open in early June. He is the only golfer aside from Scheffler (six wins) with multiple individual titles on Tour this season.
Tiger Woods is also in the field this week at Royal Troon, and the 82-time PGA Tour winner enters with 175-1 odds to win his fourth Open Championship this week. Woods has only played in one Open Championship over the last five years and missed the cut at both in 2019 at Royal Portrush and 2022 at St. Andrews.
In his two prior appearances at The Open Championship at Royal Troon, the 15-time major winner tied for 24th in 1997 and tied for ninth in 2004. He did not play in the 2016 Open Championship at Royal Troon as he missed all four majors in 2016 and 2017 while recovering following a back surgery in late 2015.
Woods missed the cut in the last two major championships of the year but made the cut at the Masters before finishing 60th. His only other start this season came at The Genesis Invitational, where he withdrew in the second round due to an illness.
The other golfers in the field with outright odds of 20-1 or shorter at bet365 on Sunday evening include:
Some other notables in the field this week and their outright odds include Jon Rahm (+2500), Cameron Smith (+4000), Brooks Koepka (+4000), Justin Thomas (+4000), Min Woo Lee (+4500), Sahith Theegala (+5500) and Jordan Spieth (+6000).
Woods, Harman, McIlroy, Stenson, Mickelson, Cameron Smith, Morikawa, Shane Lowry, Francesco Molinari, Jordan Spieth, Zach Johnson, Ernie Els, Darren Clarke, Louis Oosthuizen, Stewart Cink, Padraig Harrington and Todd Hamilton are the past winners of The Open Championship in the field this week at Royal Troon.
