Ezi Magbegor scored 18 points and Jordan Horston added 16 to fuel the host Seattle Storm to an 81-70 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Sunday.
Magbegor and Horston each made 8 of 11 shots from the floor to help the Storm (16-8) finish their WNBA-record nine-game homestand with a 7-2 mark.
Jewell Loyd collected 14 points and seven assists and Nneka Ogwumike contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds to record her sixth double-double of the season and the 107th of her career, fifth-most in league history.
Sami Whitcomb added 13 points off the bench for Seattle, which saw Skylar Diggins-Smith sustain an ankle injury in the second quarter. Diggins-Smith did not return for the start of the second half.
Maya Caldwell scored a career-high 19 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists and three steals to pace Atlanta.
Aerial Powers recorded 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench, and Tina Charles and Allisha Gray each had 12 points for the Dream (7-16), who have lost seven games in a row and 10 of their last 11.
Cheyenne Parker-Tyus' tip-in brought Atlanta within one point at 62-61 with about eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Seattle countered with a 19-6 run, capped by Magbegor making a layup and a 17-foot jumper and Loyd and Horston each adding a layup.
Whitcomb drained her third 3-pointer to stake Seattle to a 50-40 lead early in the third quarter, before Atlanta cut the deficit to one early in the fourth. Caldwell made two layups, a mid-range jumper and 3-pointer to power the Dream before Gray's 13-footer trimmed the Storm's advantage to 60-59.
Powers made a bucket in the interior to give Atlanta a 30-28 lead with 7:53 remaining in the second quarter before Seattle scored the game's next 12 points. Whitcomb sank a pair of 3-pointers in transition and Victoria Vivians also connected from beyond the arc during that surge.
Atlanta answered by scoring six of the final eight points of the quarter to cut Seattle's lead to 42-36 at halftime.

Troubling news emerges on Bears QB Caleb Williams’ workout with HC Ben Johnson
It might have been a good thing the Chicago Bears didn’t play Caleb Williams on Sunday. The Bears might need to hide their second-year quarterback as he irons out his wrinkles in the pre-snap process and with accuracy issues. The No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft struggled with timing and accuracy during the Bears’ joint practice with the Miami Dolphins on Friday. Caleb Williams was inaccurate in the red zone against no defenders On Sunday, head coach Ben Johnson chose not to play Williams against the Dolphins in the Bears’ first preseason game. Instead, Johnson led a workout with Williams and wide receivers Rome Odunze and DJ Moore before the game. Per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears ran a total of 87 plays during the workout. All of the plays were routes in the air with no defenders on the field for the scripted practice. Despite going against no defenders bringing pressure or guarding his receivers, Williams struggled to hit his targets in the red zone. "Williams would stand next to Johnson, who would give him the play," Biggs wrote. "Then, the quarterback simulated a huddle with the player (only one ran a route on each snap) and gave the play call. They’d break the huddle, go to the line of scrimmage, Williams would simulate pre-snap actions and then the play would be run… "Before ending the session with eight deep balls, there was a 25-play set of snaps in the red zone. One thing Williams struggled to connect on was out routes to Moore and Odunze near the goal line. Those throws were not close and Williams consistently led the receivers too much." A closed-door problem for the Chicago Bears The throws weren’t close during routes on air… in the red zone… seriously? Williams wasn’t ready to take the field for the preseason game. For all of the flak he’s been getting from practice reports, the quarterback would have been relentlessly mocked for having these issues shown during an NFL Network broadcast. Biggs’ report is troubling, with a month to go before the season. Williams has much to improve upon, and the Bears are very much trying to do so without cameras present for a reason.
Milwaukee Brewers: Player Leaves Game With Concerning Head Injury Amid Crew’s Tuesday Win vs. Pirates
The Milwaukee Brewers came out on top once again on Tuesday, sending yet another strong statement to the rest of the big leagues in the form of a 14-0 drubbing of the Pittsburgh Pirates at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The Brewers have now won 11 straight games, while improving to 75-44 overall. As for the Pirates, they have lost their fourth consecutive contest while dropping to 51-70. Making the night even worse for the Pirates was the apparent head injury suffered by outfielder Oneil Cruz. He collided with teammate Jack Suwinski in the fourth inning as both players tried to make a defensive play. Cruz stayed in the game for a bit but was removed in the sixth inning for pinch-hitter and veteran Tommy Pham. The Pirates have yet to disclose the exact nature of Cruz’s injury, so it’s possible that he could be ruled out for the series finale this Wednesday. So far in the 2025 MLB regular season, the 26-year-old Dominican is leading the Pirates with 18 home runs to go with 51 RBIs, but is also hitting just .207/.304 /398. Milwaukee Brewers aiming for a Pirates sweep All eyes will once again be on the Brewers this Wednesday, as they have a chance to stretch their win streak to a dozen games and add more to their lead atop the National League Central standings. After Paul Skenes failed to deliver on the mound for the Pirates on Tuesday, Pittsburgh will have Mitch Keller toeing the rubber. Keller was solid in his previous start versus the Brewers, pitching six innings of one-run ball while striking out seven hitters in a 2-1 victory at home back in May. As for Milwaukee, it will give the ball to Brandon Woodruff, who is 1-0 with a 3.12 ERA in three starts at home, thus far this season.

Shohei Ohtani named in lawsuit regarding $240M real estate project
Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has been named in a lawsuit that was filed in Hawaii on Friday. Ohtani and his agent, Nez Balelo, are being sued by a real estate investor and a broker in Hawaii who have accused Ohtani and Balelo of sabotaging a $240M real estate deal for a development on the Big Island. According to court documents that were obtained by Jimmy Golen of The Associated Press, real estate developer Kevin J. Hayes Sr. and real estate broker Tomoko Matsumoto say Ohtani and Balelo deliberately had them removed from the project “for no reason other than their own financial self-interest.” The lawsuit claims Ohtani was brought into the deal for his promotional value and that he and his agent pushed the founders of the project out using “threats and baseless legal claims.” “Defendants must be held accountable for their actions, not shielded by fame or behind-the-scenes agents acting with impunity,” the lawsuit states. “Plaintiffs bring this suit to expose Defendants’ misconduct and to ensure that the rules of contract, fair dealing, and accountability apply equally to all — celebrity or not.” Hayes and Matsumoto have also accused Ohtani and Balelo of trying to push them out of a similar neighboring development project. The $240M Big Island development is located along Hapuna Beach, which is rated one of the top beaches in the world. Matsumoto was supposed to be the listing agent for the properties, which average more than $17.3M each. A brochure for the project stated that Ohtani, who was called “Japan’s Babe Ruth” has committed to buying one of the 14 properties and acting as a “celebrity spokesperson” for the development. Ohtani signed a 10-year, $700M contract with the Dodgers prior to the 2024 season. The two-way star is having another monster year with a .284 average, 42 home runs, 78 RBI and a 1.013 OPS entering Tuesday. Ohtani has also returned to pitching this season and has a 2.37 ERA across 19 innings. Ohtani was also connected to a massive gambling scandal last year, though Major League Baseball determined that the 31-year-old was not guilty of any wrongdoing.
Cowboys' DaRon Bland Reveals Camp Secret And New Contract Talk Details
The Dallas Cowboys' secondary has been a big concern all offseason, with injuries and a lack of depth plaguing the unit. And when you have to go against CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, that is nightmare fuel for any defense, let alone one that is the walking wounded as training camp winds down. But there are big benefits to going against an elite tandem, and one who has seen his fair share of No. 88 and No. 3 is corner DaRon Bland. And he's relishing the chance to go against the star duo day in, day out. “It never let you get complacent,” Bland said, revealing his camp secret of success. “It always give you something to work on because it's every day there's something to work on. So going against guys like that, you can never just sit back.” Given that the Cowboys and Bland face the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1, the NFC East rivals have A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, so it is good preparation for Matt Eberflus' defense. Still, Lamb and Pickens, for the most part, have had their way with Dallas' secondary, with CeeDee stating no one has given him any trouble at all throughout camp, which is quite the statement. For Bland, it is iron sharpens iron, and going against Lamb and Pickens will hopefully hold him and the rest of the secondary in good stead for when they face the Eagles to open the season. Meanwhile, Bland continues to express hope that he'll get rewarded for his work with a Cowboys contract extension. On Tuesday, Bland said there have been some contined talks with his agent and added that he’d like to get a new deal done before the season. “Hopefully,'' he said. Along the way? Never getting complacent. That is what Bland is preaching, going against the star-studded duo, and with so much weaponry across from him every day, come Week 1, we think the pick-six king will be more than ready for what Philadelphia has to throw at him.
