Rams WR Cooper Kupp shares health update following injury-riddled seasons

In 2021, the Rams' Cooper Kupp put together one of the best seasons for a wide receiver in NFL history, registering 145 catches for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns.

However, he has played in just 21 games since due to injuries. In 2022, Kupp suffered a high ankle sprain, which required surgery, and then he battled a lingering hamstring injury in 2023.

The 31-year-old was able to finish last season strong, which has him confident about being an impact player early and often this year.

"I feel good. We got a lot of good work in this offseason," Kupp said, via Nick Shook of NFL.com. "The best thing about this last year was just being able to feel healthy and have a full offseason of work, not just for myself in terms of working out and building my body back up but also having that time with Matthew (Stafford), being able to get on the field and work through things together."

The one good thing that came from Kupp's injury-riddled seasons was the emergence of wide receiver Puka Nacua.

The No. 177 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft set several records in 2023, including the most receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486) in a rookie season, most receptions by a rookie in a game (15) and most receiving yards by a rookie in a playoff game (181).

Now, the two are slated to line up next to each other, giving Los Angeles one of the best wide receiver duos in the league. 

Kupp and Nacua have been training together this offseason to prove just that.

"It's been really cool -- Puka's been great," Kupp added. "I just can't get rid of the guy -- he shows up to my house, he jumps in, I make him throw up, he still comes back. He comes over for dinner, I've got veggies all over his plate, he still comes back. He's resilient, this one."

Kupp noted that he had a great mentor in wide receiver Robert Woods and now he hopes to be the same for Nacua as the two prepare for what could be a special season.

"Obviously, getting out here has been great," Kupp finished. "First few days of camp have been awesome, things have been clicking and looking forward to continue to build on that this year."
