With another historic day in Paris wrapped up, here's the latest from Wednesday's Olympic action.
France's Leon Marchand stole the spotlight at La Defense Arena yet again, making Olympic history as the first swimmer since East Germany's Kornelia Ender in 1976 to win two individual events in a single day. Marchand made an epic comeback to win the men's 200 butterfly and finished his night with gold in the 200 breaststroke, breaking the Olympic record in both events.

Spanish tennis stars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, dubbed by fans as "Nadalcaraz," fell out of the Olympic doubles tournament Wednesday. The popular duo lost in straight sets to an American team in their quarterfinal match. Sadly, the loss may have marked the final time Nadal steps foot on the storied courts of Roland Garros in his illustrious career.
U.S. gymnasts Paul Juda and Frederick Richard competed in the men's individual all-around competition Wednesday. Neither made the podium, but both gave spirited performances in the wake of their team all-round bronze medal from Monday. Richard fell on pommel horse, while Juda landed out of bounds on vault, essentially putting them out of contention early.
The men's and women's triathlon events were held Wednesday as the Seine River passed water quality inspections enough for athletes to dive in for the open-water portion of the race. There was an odd hiccup that went unnoticed in the women's event. Part of the field appeared to dive in before the starting horn, but officials did not stop the race to restart. No Americans finished on the podium in either event.

Three big things about Team USA
1. Ledecky makes more history in the pool
Katie Ledecky struck gold yet again in the women's 1500 freestyle on Wednesday, absolutely destroying the competition and finishing a whopping 10 seconds ahead of second place. With that win, Ledecky ties Jenny Thompson with eight golds and 12 total medals for the title of most decorated U.S. Olympian in any sport in history.

2. Canoeist wins shock medal in women's slalom
American Evy Leibfarth secured a surprise bronze in the women's single canoe slalom event Wednesday. Team USA did not have high hopes for the podium entering the Paris Games, but the 20-year-old Leibfarth delivered an astonishing final run, beating her qualifying time by nearly eight seconds.
3. Women's soccer and men's basketball keep stacking the wins
Team USA women's soccer and men's basketball earned crucial victories in their Olympic quests Wednesday. The American women defeated rivals Australia 2-1 to secure a quarterfinal matchup with Japan, while the men thrashed South Sudan 103-86 in group play.
You won't believe this
Team USA announced Tuesday that its athletes have now won 3,000 Olympic medals at Summer and Winter Games combined. Swimmers Regan Smith and Katharine Berkoff also won the 599th and 600th swimming medals all-time for the U.S. in their 100 backstroke final on Tuesday.
