Star center A'ja Wilson continued her dominance at the 2024 Paris Olympics with another outstanding performance in Wednesday's quarterfinals, helping the U.S. women's basketball team inch one step closer to the gold medal game.
Wilson dropped 20 points (9-of-11 shooting), adding 11 rebounds and two blocks in the U.S.'s win over Nigeria, 88-74. The two-time WNBA MVP posted her third double-double of the Olympics, the most for a player donning red, white and blue since Candace Parker in 2012, per USA Basketball.

Meanwhile, Wilson has more double-doubles than any other women's player in this year's games. Before Wednesday's outing, the 27-year-old became the first player, men's or women's, to post multiple double-doubles in Paris, scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds in the opener against Japan before tallying 23 points with 13 boards versus Belgium.
Heading into the semifinals, Wilson is lighting up the stat sheet. Four contests into the Olympics, she's averaging 20.2 points while shooting 61.8% from the field, with 10 rebounds, 2.5 assists, two blocks and 1.5 steals per game.
Wilson was outstanding on Wednesday, but she had help. Fellow starters guard Jackie Young and forward Breanna Stewart were also significant contributors in the double-digit win over Nigeria, combining for 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
The victory makes it 59 in a row for the U.S. women, who are also searching for their eighth-consecutive gold medal. To get the opportunity, they must first knock off Australia in the semifinals, scheduled for Friday at 11:30 a.m. ET.
