Jets' Aaron Rodgers shares skepticism about upcoming biography on him

Ian O’Connor has written a few New York Times bestsellers, so his next book “Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers” will likely be highly anticipated.

O’Connor has done an extensive amount of research for the book, according to New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the subject of the biographical novel. However, Rodgers recently expressed some skepticism about some of the things that will end up being published during an interview with Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti on WFAN Tuesday morning.

“There’ll be some interesting things in there that are perspective-based, there’ll for sure be some stuff that’s true,” Rodgers said, via Awful Announcing. “…There’s stories in there that I’m sure are true, there’s stories that are maybe exaggerated over time. There’s stories that are perspectively true to people, because that’s what it seemed to them, but I’m not sure if I’m going to read it or not.”

Some of the topics touched on in the book include Rodgers’ thoughts on COVID, the estrangement from his family members and past relationship with actress Olivia Munn, his polarizing beliefs on spiritual awakening and his season-ending Achilles injury last season.

O’Connor is marketing the book as a pulling back of the curtain to showcase “the definitive portrait of the legendary yet mysterious quarterback who has astonished, befuddled, yet always captivated fans of America’s No. 1 sport.”

Rodgers made it clear he had nothing to do with O’Connor writing the book, it wasn’t something he requested be done and he only spoke with the author after most of the book had been written already.

“A lot of the stuff that was in there is 20-plus years old,” Rodgers added. “I commend him for the time he spent on it, but it’s not a book I asked him to write for me. … I don’t know what kind of book he’s going to write.”
