The opening fight of season eight of "Dana White's Contender Series" was expected to be one of the best matchups of the entire year with both Lone'er Kavanagh and An Tuan Ho being two of the brightest prospects in MMA. Kavanagh had other plans.
After a brief two-minute feel-out period, Kavanagh connected on a short left hook that ended the fight in the first round. Referee Herb Dean immediately stepped in before Kavanagh could follow up with Ho unconscious in the center of the Octagon.

The jaw-dropping moment ignited the small crowd present at the UFC APEX while getting Dana White to rise out of his seat.
Not only was the highlight immediately one of the best knockouts in "DWCS" history, but it was also one of the few flyweight fights on the show that ended with a single punch. The knockout was the fifth in Kavanagh's career, showcasing his elite power for the division.
Although Kavanagh was the slight betting favorite, both fighters were highly touted by all parties involved as two of the best regional fighters in the world. Both were undefeated flyweights with multiple highlight-reel finishes on their respective resumes, an uncommon feat for 125-pound fighters.
Kavanagh and Ho both also train at credentialed gyms with the former working with Great Britain Top Team and his 23-year-old counterpart representing the MMA Lab. Kavanagh was a veteran of the European regional promotion Cage Warriors, with Ho competing solely in the LFA before signing his "DWCS" contract.
The knockout improved Kavanagh to 7-0 while handing Ho the first loss of his career and dropping him to 6-1.
