CeeDee Lamb told Kay Adams on Tuesday's episode of the "Up and Adams" podcast that he wouldn't have played in Week 1 win against the Cleveland Browns if he hadn't signed a contract extension yet.
After weeks, if not months of negotiation, plus a training-camp holdout, the Dallas Cowboys and their star wide receiver agreed to a four-year, $136M deal in late August.
Lamb became one of the last stud wideouts to ink a long-term extension this offseason, ahead of San Francisco 49ers standout Brandon Aiyuk. Lamb also discussed Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase on Tuesday, as the LSU product played in Week 1 despite not having a new contract in place.
Would CeeDee Lamb have played in the #Cowboys Week 1 game if his contract still wasn't done??

"The contract's done. The ink is dry so now you can tell me. Would you have shown up if you didn't have a deal in place Week 1?" Adams asked.
"No," Lamb said.
"What does that say about Ja'Marr? I don't even know what to make of it. I don't know what to say," Adams said.
"I don't necessarily say we have the same position. We play the same position but (we're not) in the same position," Lamb said. "But as for him, I feel like he's playing it right. He's doing it right, and all it's going to take is one big game from him to show his worth and obviously Week 1 is tough for us because we've been holding out, but once we get acclimated and bodies start getting back in the grind of things and playing football again, I have no doubt that he's gonna have a great year this year."
Aiyuk, Chase and Lamb all played in their teams' Week 1 contests but put up underwhelming numbers.
The Niners' fifth-year pro recorded two catches for 28 receiving yards on five targets in San Francisco's 32-19 "Monday Night Football" triumph over the New York Jets. Chase finished the Bengals' 16-10 upset loss against the New England Patriots with six receptions for 62 yards on six looks, and Lamb made five catches for 61 yards on 10 targets.
None of the three receivers scored touchdowns despite their teams putting up a combined 75 points and after finding the end zone 26 times through the air during the 2023 campaign.
