Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton made it clear he hasn't lost any confidence in rookie quarterback Bo Nix.
Despite a 26-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1, Sutton noted Nix is a quick study and should progress.
"Bo is a student of the game," Sutton said in a Wednesday news conference. "I'm sure he has things that he took from the game that he wants back and things that he did well that he wants to progress on. There's a lot of hope and promise moving forward."
Nix — who started in an NCAA-record 61 games in five seasons at Auburn and Oregon — is more experienced than the typical rookie QB. This should help him improve after a shaky debut.
Against Seattle, Nix completed 26 of 42 passes for 138 yards and two interceptions. Per ESPN's Benjamin Solak, his 3.3 yards per pass attempt tied for the sixth fewest in a game with at least 40 attempts since the 1970 merger.
However, the 24-year-old also ran for 35 yards and one TD on five carries. Per NFL Next Gen Stats, he clocked 20.05 mph on a 23-yard run late in the fourth quarter, the 15th-fastest speed among ball-carriers in Week 1.

"It was a great game of learning," Nix told the media Wednesday. "I think the film was positive. When you go back, you see there were opportunities, and we just gotta capitalize in a few more areas."
On Sunday, the Broncos host the Steelers in a home game, which should present a difficult matchup. Pro Football Focus ranks Pittsburgh's D-line — which features star edge-rusher T.J. Watt — No. 1 in the league.
As of Thursday, FanDuel Sportsbook lists the Steelers (1-0) as a 2.5-point favorite. Even if Denver (0-1) loses, Nix showing why teammates are still backing him would be an excellent sign.
