Colorado's field torn up by hit and run driver who fled into stadium

A wild scene occurred in Boulder, Colorado on Thursday evening. According to Boulder Police, the suspected perpetrator of a hit-and-run accident near Colorado's campus fled the scene and drove his vehicle into Folsom Field.

Police posted on X to explain the situation saying in part that it was working with campus police to "arrest a hit and run driver who fled the scene of a crash ... and entered the stadium." They added the suspect is now in custody and no longer a threat.

Bystanders on campus were able to snap images of what appears to be the suspect, outside of his vehicle on the football field, presumably surrendering to authorities.

It's apparent in the images that the driver's truck tore up some of the grass near the sideline around the 30-yard line.

Thankfully for the Colorado grounds crew, the Buffaloes are on the road this weekend at in-state rivals Colorado State. So, there won't be a need for a rushed patch job before Saturday.

However, team practices and walk-throughs could be affected. Neither the football team nor the university has commented on that issue as of yet.

Folsom Field has been a natural grass surface since 1999, according to the university. The Buffaloes will return to their home stadium when they open Big 12 play against Baylor on Sept. 21.
