On a night when the game didn’t matter but remembering a WNBA trailblazer did, Phoenix Mercury legend Diana Taurasi shared her emotions and thoughts on the 89-70 loss to the Seattle Storm maybe being the last home game inside Footprint Center of her 20-year career, having former teammates and loved ones come to support her, cherishing what Phoenix has done for her throughout her time in the Valley, not ruling out coming back next season and more on Thursday night.

Since she was selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the Mercury in 2004, she has gone on to be a three-time WNBA champion (2007, 2009, 2014), 2009 WNBA MVP, 11-time All-Star, 10-time All-NBA First-Team honoree, five-time WNBA scoring champion and achieved a massive list of other accolades along her journey.

Taurasi becomes a free agent after the 2024 WNBA playoffs finish and at 42 years old, retirement is a real possibility coming sooner rather than later. The Mercury faces the Minnesota Lynx in the first round of the playoffs, with the first two of a three-game series being in Minnesota. If Phoenix wins at least one, they will force Game 3 in the Valley.
