Brennan has been a longtime columnist for USA Today and a commentator for ABC News, CNN, NPR and PBS.
In August, she announced on social media that she'll be releasing a book in 2025 that's focused on Rookie of the Year and record-setting Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.
I’m in Indy to begin an exciting new project: a book on Caitlin Clark and the revolution in women’s sports for @ScribnerBooks, my long-time publisher. It will be a journalistic look at Clark & the unprecedented interest in her & women’s basketball. The book will be out in 2025. pic.twitter.com/ZML0f5p8JF

The other three WNBA superstars mentioned in the Players Association statement include three-time MVP A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, 2024 Most Improved Player of the Year Award winner DiJonai Carrington of the Connecticut Sun and MVP runner-up Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx.
Wilson's Aces, Carrington's Sun and Collier's Lynx are among the playoff semifinalists this season, with Breanna Stewart's New York Liberty joining them.
The criticism follows Brennan's Tuesday interview with Carrington. The reporter asked the Connecticut fourth-year pro about her incident with Clark in Game 1 of the Sun-Fever first-round playoff series, in which Carrington poked the NCAA's all-time leading scorer in the eye while making a play for the ball.
I asked DiJonai Carrington about that moment early in Sunday’s Indiana-Connecticut game when she caught Caitlin Clark in the eye. Here’s her answer: pic.twitter.com/DnQVYi0r6J

The conversation between Brennan and Carrington caused a firestorm of comments on social media, with some roasting the reporter for how she asked her questions. Others, however, defended Brennan and called out Carrington for allegedly trying to injure Clark.
While Indiana's season is over, Carrington and the Sun will travel to Minnesota to take on the Lynx in the semifinals beginning on Sunday.
