Bears WR DJ Moore happy to see rookie QB Caleb Williams being 'bossy'

Entering the season, there were high expectations for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Those expectations weren't just by Bears fans, either, but also his new teammates. That's why it was sometimes difficult to watch when he struggled to start the season.

Through the first three weeks, Williams threw for 630 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.

However, Williams has been playing like the quarterback Chicago hoped he would be during the team's two-game win streak, passing for 461 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Wide receiver DJ Moore has certainly noticed a difference in his rookie quarterback.

"He's been bossy lately, telling us that we need to be on the details," Moore said, via The Associated Press.

Bossy typically has a negative connotation, but Moore made sure to note that he meant it as a compliment.

"What I mean by bossy is, we don't hit something in practice, he's going to tell us how we need to run it," Moore explained. "We just look at him and be like 'OK.' When we get out there in the game, you just better make sure it works because he's going to have some words for you if you don't. That's him being a leader."

The Bears have been searching for their next franchise leader for some time. They may have finally found it in Williams.

At first, it was a little weird for Moore, 27, to be pushed by the 22-year-old Williams, but he seems to be okay with it now.

"So you are looking at him like, 'Dude, don't be talking to me like that.' But I understand because we need to really connect on that," Moore added. "That's what we did this past week. I took his advice, I listened. Older bro had to take a back seat for a second."

As for Williams, he is already feeling a boost in his confidence, which was much needed after Chicago's rough start to the year.

"Partially it was me learning everybody and understanding how everybody reacts to certain things," Williams said. "Certain people you can be a little bossy with, certain people you have to talk very monotone and (in) control of yourself."

Williams will likely continue to go through some ups and down the rest of his rookie campaign, but as long as he keeps growing, that's all that matters for the long-term success of the franchise.

The Bears host the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4) in Week 6.
