The New York Giants are entering a much-needed Week 11 bye after dropping to 2-8 from an embarrassing overseas loss to the struggling Carolina Panthers.
Head coach Brian Daboll did not indicate to reporters on Monday that quarterback Daniel Jones would be returning under center in Week 12, instead opting for a vague "we're evaluating our team" statement.
From that bit of news, ESPN's NFL insider Adam Schefter determined that Jones' days as the Giants passer are effectively over.
He told the "Unsportsmanlike Radio" crew Tuesday, "I would guess that we don't see Daniel Jones play another down for the Giants."

"Brian Daboll's tone was different than it's been in other weeks," Schefter explained. "It was always 'Daniel Jones is our starter' ... and then yesterday, 'We're evaluating everything.'"
Schefter is right. Daboll did make it a point after each previous game through Week 10 to state that Jones would continue starting for the team.
The abrupt shift to considering all the team's options now smells of general manager Joe Schoen stepping in to avoid a financial catastrophe.
Jones has a $23 million injury guarantee for the 2025 season, and if the Giants want to escape his four-year, $160 million extension early, then they cannot afford playing him anymore as Schefter explained
"Just as we saw Russell Wilson and Jimmy Garoppolo be benched last year and Derek Carr the year before to not risk those players getting hurt," Schefter said. "I think we're looking at the same thing with Daniel Jones right now ... They can't risk, I don't believe, having the guy out there."
If Jones is, indeed, benched coming out of New York's bye, then backup Drew Lock would take over under center. The 28-year-old sixth-year veteran was signed to a one-year deal this past offseason after leaving Seattle.
