It's a big day for Houston basketball, no matter what happens with the Cougars' game against No. 9 Alabama on Tuesday.
Houston and head coach Kelvin Sampson got a massive win on the recruiting trail earlier in the day. Chris Cenac Jr., a five-star center from Branson, Missouri, announced his commitment to the Cougars.

The 6-foot-10 big committed to Houston over Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU and Tennessee, amongst others.
"I just like the coaching staff a lot, I like their plan to develop me and I like coming into a winning program," Cenac told 247Sports regarding his commitment. "I'm looking forward to producing and just helping them win more. But the main thing was development and them being able to get me better so I can be ready for that next level."
The Cougars are building something special with their 2025 recruiting class. Cenac is the Cougars' third five-star recruit, joining shooting guard Isiah Harwell and point guard Kingston Flemings. Bryce Jackson, three-star forward, is also committed to Sampson and his staff.
As far as Cenac Jr. is concerned, his commitment is a historic one for Houston. On3 reports that Cenac is the highest-ranked prospect to ever commit to Houston basketball. The 247Sports Composite rankings consider him to be the the No. 1 center recruit in the 2025 class as well as the No. 6 overall recruit in the country.
Houston has the second-highest ranked recruiting class in the country behind only Duke.
