JuJu Watkins Reacts After Breaking USC Coach’s 3-Point Record
© Robert Hanashiro–USA TODAY Sports

USC Trojans star JuJu Watkins made history on Tuesday night, setting a new school record for the most 3-pointers in a single game.

In the Trojans' dominant 94–52 win over the California Baptist Lancers, Watkins drained an impressive nine 3-pointers, surpassing the previous record of seven set by her coach Courtney Jaco in 2017.

Jaco, the former USC guard, congratulated Watkins on social media, prompting a heartfelt response.

“My dawg ,” Watkins wrote in a repost of the moment on Instagram.

The sophomore guard showcased her offensive prowess by scoring 40 points. Watkins also contributed six rebounds, one assist and three blocks in an all-around effort in the blowout win.

According to ESPN, Watkins' 25.5 points per game this season currently rank second in the NCAA, trailing only Florida State’s Ta’Niya Latson.

Beyond breaking records, Watkins has proven to be a game-changer for the Trojans.

Just weeks earlier, Watkins became the fastest Power Five player in women's college basketball history to reach 1,000 career points, achieving the milestone in only 38 games and surpassing former Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark's record of 40 games.

Watkins also holds the distinction of being the fastest player in the past decade to hit 15 games with at least 30 points, achieving it in just 41 games.

With her name already in USC’s record books, Watkins is now on track to climb the program’s all-time 3-point leaderboard. Her dedication and skill continue to raise expectations for what lies ahead in her career.
