LeBron James may need to visit 'the LeBron James of feet'

After playing every game of the season so far, LeBron James is questionable for Friday's game against the Atlanta Hawks with a sore foot. If it persists, he knows who to call.

James announced before the season his plans "to play in every game," but that's in doubt now that he has soreness in his left foot that's left him questionable for Friday. It's not the first time he's had trouble with his feet during his Lakers career.

During the 2022-23 season, James missed 13 games after tearing a tendon in his right foot. Two doctors recommended the star undergo season-ending surgery, but James made a miraculous recovery thanks to an unnamed doctor that he only referred to as "the LeBron James of feet."

"I went to the LeBron James of feet, and he told me I should (delay possible surgery)," James said in an interview, adding that the mysterious doctor had told him he was "healing faster than anybody they’ve seen before with the injury."

It's not clear what treatment James received, but when he returned, he led the Lakers to two playoff series wins before they were swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.

Now, he might need to revisit the anonymous doctor. The Lakers have lost six of their last eight games. James has made only one of his last 24 three-point attempts, perhaps as a result of the bad foot or that he's simply getting older.

There was some good news regarding the left foot of a different James. Bronny James is also listed as questionable with a left-heel contusion, but that's an upgrade from his previous status of "out." If he's improving, he could return for the South Bay Lakers' game Saturday. It's less likely he'd play for the big club, where he's averaging 0.7 points in his six games.

Whoever James sees about his own ailing foot, he needs to make sure he doesn't accidentally go to the LeBron James Jr. of feet. Because the Bronny James of feet might become a good podiatrist someday, but right now, he's not someone LeBron or the Lakers can rely on.
