The Washington Commanders won their first playoff game since the 2005-06 season, knocking off the NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a score of 23-20.
Capped off by a dramatic "doinked-in" game-winning field goal , the historic victory was engineered by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who put up some mind-blowing numbers.
The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner tossed for 268 yards (304 total) and two touchdowns, including a risky fourth-down dagger to wide receiver Terry McLaurin that gave his team the lead late in regulation.

Daniels made NFL history as well, as he joined a very short and illustrious list with his Sunday night stat line.
He became just the second quarterback ever to lead an offense in the playoffs that did not have to punt nor did it turn the ball over once the entire game. The other passer was Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning with the 2003 Indianapolis Colts.
In addition to that, Daniels' zero turnovers and zero punts needed performance was just the third recorded instance in league history by a rookie passer. The other two occasions were both by Daniels earlier in the 2024-25 season (Week 2 and Week 3).
Washington fans have been waiting for a talent under center such as Daniels since the unfortunate short tenure of Robert Griffin III. But now, it seems like that wait is over.
Winners of now six straight games, the team is hoping to ride Daniels' skills and momentum to further postseason glory.
The Commanders will travel to Detroit for a massive divisional-round matchup against the top-seeded Lions on Jan. 18, looking for a trip to their first NFC Championship Game since the 1991-92 season.
