No. 2 South Carolina women end No. 5 LSU's undefeated season

The LSU Tigers were 20-0 (5-0 SEC) headed into Friday's top-five showdown against No. 2 South Carolina.

A dominating defensive performance from the Gamecocks gave LSU its first loss of the season.

After allowing 22 points in the first quarter, the Gamecocks allowed just 34 points over the final three quarters. LSU's 56 points were a season low and their first time scoring fewer than 60 in a loss under head coach Kim Mulkey.

LSU is shooting 48.9% from the field this season but was held to just 29.9% in Friday's loss. Flau'Jae Johnson scored 11 points in the first half and finished with just 13, well below her season average of 20 points per game.

Aneesah Morrow collected her 93rd career double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. She moved into second all-time in double-doubles in women's college basketball history.

South Carolina had an off night from the field, shooting just 37.1% and 15.4% from three.

Freshman star Joyce Edwards led the Gamecocks with 14 points and four rebounds. Sania Feagin was the only other Gamecock in double figures with 12 points.

South Carolina collected 11 blocks.

The Gamecocks look like the best team in all of women's college basketball. The lone loss for South Carolina this season was on the road against No. 1 UCLA.

If the two teams met again today, it's hard to envision the Gamecocks losing to the same team twice in one season.
