J.T. Miller traded to Rangers in multi-piece deal

The New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks have agreed on a trade that will send J.T. Miller and other pieces to the Rangers for multiple pieces coming back. Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli revealed details on the trade, which also includes Filip Chytil and Victor Mancini.

It didn’t take long for the news to start rolling in on Friday. Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman first tweeted that the Canucks were getting closer to trading J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers. The Rangers have been linked to Miller for weeks, but talks reportedly fell apart when it was said they didn’t want to pay full price on his contract. It seems both sides went back to the table with some big trades having gone down over the past week.

Not long after that, Darren Dreger wrote, “JT Miller has been asked to Waive NMC to go to the NYR. Won’t be in the Canucks lineup tonight.”

Miller wanted to go to the Rangers

Seravalli added that Miller had agreed to waive his no-trade, which surprised no one. “Sources say J.T. Miller has asked and verbally agreed to waive his 'no-trade' clause to accept a trade to the Rangers. Formal submission of paperwork pending. So long as the Rangers and Canucks can close the deal this time, he will be heading to New York.”

The Canucks are not retaining salary in the deal, which is a huge part of the trade for them and mainly why the two teams walked away from the table when they first discussed the trade.
