The Los Angeles Lakers had to wait nine days for Luka Doncic to play his first game for the team. They had to wait less than four minutes for him to hit his first stepback three.

Doncic got a huge ovation from the Los Angeles crowd in his first game since the Dallas Mavericks shocked the NBA by sending the five-time All-NBA guard to Los Angeles. Monday's game between the Lakers and the Utah Jazz instantly became a must-watch, with ESPN deciding to broadcast Doncic's debut.

A calf strain had kept Doncic out since Christmas Day. He's on an unspecified minutes restriction but played the game's first seven minutes. When he exited, he had five points, one rebound and one assist and the Lakers had a 22-13 lead.
That lone assist was immediate and impressive, as he found Jaxson Hayes for an alley-oop slam.

The rebound led to an easy bucket for Doncic. He collected the board on a Rui Hachimura miss thanks to a timely tip from his old Dallas teammate, Dorian Finney-Smith.

Doncic's presence seemed to energize LeBron James as well, as he made his first three shots, closing the first quarter with seven points, two rebounds and two assists as the Lakers scored 37 points.
The two superstars may still need time to feel each other out, but the (very) early returns are quite positive for the Luka-LeBron combo.
Doncic finished with 14 points off 5-of-14 shooting with five rebounds and four assists in the Lakers' 132-113 win over the Jazz.
