After both teams finished their season finales with wins on Sunday, both the Texas Longhorns and South Carolina Gamecocks are SEC regular-season champions.
The Gamecocks claimed a share of the regular-season championship for the fourth consecutive season, while the Longhorns claimed a share in their first year in the conference.

The Gamecocks are Longhorns each went 15-1 in conference play with their only loss coming to each other.
With the way that things played out, both teams obviously could not be the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament, meaning that some sort of tiebreaker would need to be looked at to settle who that No. 1 seed would be.
The first tiebreaker is head-to-head matchup and that was no good considering each team had beaten the other one once during the season.
The second tiebreaker looked at record against common opponents, which was also no good as both Texas and South Carolina beat everyone else that they played in the SEC. That took things down to the third and final tiebreaker in the rulebook.
Insert, the coin flip. That's right, the No 1. seed in the SEC Tournament came down to a coin flip from SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and it was televised live on SEC Network.

As the video shows, South Carolina was the winner of the coin flip, and the Gamecocks will enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed as they look to win the tournament for the third consecutive season and fifth time in the last six years.
The tournament will begin on Wednesday, in Greenville, South Carolina and will conclude Sunday.
With the way things have gone in the SEC this season, it would be surprising to see anyone except Texas and South Carolina in the championship game.
