For the third straight season and ninth time in program history, the South Carolina Gamecocks have won the women's SEC basketball championship.
The No. 5 Gamecocks knocked off No. 1 Texas 64-45 and all but secured a No. 1 seed in the women's NCAA Tournament.

South Carolina never trailed in the win, as the Gamecocks avenged an earlier season loss to the Longhorns.
Texas turned the ball over 18 times and South Carolina was able to score nine points off of those turnovers.
Chloe Kitts led the Gamecocks with 15 points and nine rebounds. Kitts was named the tournament MVP.

Tessa Johnson (14 points, 2-of-3 3PT), Sania Feagin (11 points) and Joyce Edwards (11 points) were all in double figures for South Carolina.
MiLaysia Fulwiley scored just five points but also added three rebounds, two assists and two steals, an all-around good game for the spark plug of the Gamecocks.

For Texas, the struggles of Madison Booker showed up again in a loss to the Gamecocks. In Texas's two losses to South Carolina this season, Booker scored just 17 points on 7-of-32 shooting.
Taylor Jones and Rori Harmon each scored 14 for the Longhorns. Jones led the team in blocks with three and Harmon led them in assists with three. No other Texas player scored more than two points.

Both teams will now await Selection Sunday to see who they will match up against in the first round of the women's NCAA Tournament.
