The third-ranked UConn Huskies took care of No. 22 Creighton on Monday night to win the Big East title, 70-50, and continue their dominance in conference tournaments.
It is UConn's 23rd Big East conference title and the 13th consecutive conference title dating back to its seven American Athletic Conference championships from 2014-20.
The Huskies have not lost a postseason game against any of the current Big East teams since 2003. UConn's last loss in the Big East Tournament was against Notre Dame in the 2013 title game. Head coach Geno Auriemma has now won 30 conference titles — 23 of which in the Big East.
UConn's defense was a major part of its success in the title game. Creighton only shot 35.8% and 6-of-23 from deep while committing 19 turnovers. Considering the Bluejays were the only team this season to stay within 15 points of the Huskies in conference play, UConn's ability to hold them to 50 and win handily was impressive.
The Huskies never trailed and were once again led by star Paige Bueckers, who had 24 points (7-of-14 FG). Freshman Sarah Strong (13 points, 11 rebounds) and senior Azzi Fudd (13 points) were the other players in double figures.
Fudd hit three triples, including this one that extended UConn's lead to 27-11 late in the first quarter.

UConn assisted on 11 of its 24 made shots, including on this possession about four minutes into the second quarter that ended with a three from Fudd.

Heading into the NCAA Tournament as a projected two-seed according to ESPN women's bracketologist Charlie Creme, UConn (31-3, 18-0 Big East) will look to add another championship by season's end. Since Bueckers' first season with the program in 2020-21, UConn has reached the Final Four three times, including a loss to South Carolina in the 2021-22 national championship.
With another conference title under their belt and a top two seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Huskies continue to prove why they are one of the best teams in the country. If UConn can limit its turnovers after committing 17 on Monday and defend at the level it did against Creighton going forward, it would be surprising not to see the Huskies in the Final Four at the least.
