Guard Georgia Amoore almost lifted the Kentucky Wildcats to a thrilling victory in the second round of the women's NCAA Tournament on Sunday.
With No. 4 seed Kentucky trailing No. 5 seed Kansas State 80-79 in overtime, Amoore inbounded the ball to sophomore center Clara Strack, who then passed it back to Amoore.
The 5-foot-6 senior fired a baseline layup, but the ball hit the front of the rim and bounced out of the basket.

The missed shot capped off a rough outing for Amoore. She scored 18 points but shot 7-of-23 from the field and committed four turnovers. She also missed a jumper that would've given Kentucky the lead with 21 seconds left in overtime.
Kansas State guard Temira Poindexter, meanwhile, had one of the better games of her career. She scored a game-high 24 points on 8-of-17 shooting. She made a three-pointer with 1:38 remaining in overtime, tying the game at 77.

Although the final game of her college career was a loss, Amoore still deserves kudos. She earned a third-team and second-team All-American nod in five seasons at Virginia Tech and Kentucky. In Tankathon's latest mock draft, the New York Liberty take Amoore with pick No. 7.
Kansas State (28-7) will face No. 1 seed USC (29-3) or No. 9 seed Mississippi State (22-11) in the Sweet 16. The Trojans and Bulldogs play Monday at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN.
