Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark returned from her quad injury on Saturday against the New York Liberty, and let's just say she did not look the slightest bit rusty.
Clark scored 14 points in the first quarter at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., and the majority of them came with under two minutes remaining. Clark pulled up and drained a three-pointer from 33 feet out with 1:26 remaining in the first quarter, and that was just the start of a mini-explosion.
Clark made three three-pointers in a span of about 44 seconds.

Indiana trailed 21-15 before Clark hit her three-pointer with 1:26 remaining in the quarter. The game was tied less than a minute later.
Clark was sidelined for five games with the quad injury. The Fever went 2-3 in those games. Clark entered Saturday leading Indiana with 19 points and 9.3 assists per game.
The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, Clark is known for being able to hit shots from just about anywhere on the court. She wasted very little time doing just that in her return to action on Saturday.

Kelsey Mitchell had 26 points and eight assists, and the host Indiana Fever continued their mastery of the Chicago Sky with a 92-70 victory in a matchup of short-handed teams Saturday night in Indianapolis. Lexie Hull added 17 points, Sophie Cunningham scored 16 and Aliyah Boston had 15 for the Fever (18-14), who played their 10th consecutive game without All-Star Caitlin Clark (groin) and their first game since losing fellow guards Aari McDonald (foot) and Sydney Colson (knee) to season-ending injuries. Rachel Banham scored 11 points to lead the Sky (8-23), who played without forward Angel Reese (back), the team leader in scoring, rebounds and assists, for the eighth time in 10 games. The Fever, which will host Chicago again on Sept. 5, improved to 4-0 against the Sky this season, with the average margin of victory being 24.8 points. Indiana scored the first eight points of the third quarter to open a 56-37 lead. Rebecca Allen made a field goal for the Sky's first points of the period and Banham followed with a 3-pointer to trim Chicago's deficit to 14. Chicago got as close as 13 before Mitchell assisted on Cunningham's 3-pointer and followed with a basket to push the lead to 74-54 at the end of the third quarter. The score was tied at 10 in the first quarter before Hull and Mitchell made consecutive 3-pointers to complete an 8-0 run by the Fever, who were coming off their most lopsided loss of the season in a 95-60 defeat at Phoenix on Thursday. Kamilla Cardoso made a layup to stop the run, but Indiana opened a nine-point lead three times, the last coming when Boston's layup produced a 25-16 edge at the end of the first quarter. Ariel Atkins and Sevgi Uzun made consecutive 3-pointers to start the second quarter scoring and pull Chicago within three points. Cunningham scored 10 points as the Fever expanded the lead to 48-37 at halftime after the Sky scored just three points in the final 4:16 of the second quarter.
The New York Yankees have lost three straight series, and their playoff positioning is getting weaker by the day. They're now just a half-game ahead of the Cleveland Guardians for the AL's third and final Wild Card spot after Sunday's 7-1 loss to the Houston Astros. The bright side is that generational superstar Aaron Judge returned on Tuesday after missing 10 games with an elbow injury. However, the 33-year-old has been in the designated hitter slot since then, as he's still not ready to play the outfield. That's caused fellow slugger and regular designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton to be partially phased out of the lineup, since he's almost solely an offensive player at this point in his career. He hadn't played the field since 2023 before starting in right field on Saturday. Additionally, New York has been inconsistent on both sides of the ball. For example, two-time All-Star relief pitcher Devin Williams is 0-2 with a blown save since Monday, and the offense has averaged just 2.83 runs per game in that period. Judge opened up to the media about the situation after Sunday's loss, via SNY. "It's tough, but there's no excuses. We're getting paid to go out there, perform at our best, and win baseball games," he said. "The fans are still packing out and showing support for us, and we gotta show up for them. We've got to go out there and do our job. " "That's what it comes down to...We're not doing our job, we're not doing the little things that put ourselves in position to win baseball games," he continued. "It's going to take all of us...I wouldn't say the confidence has really changed." Aaron Judge Health Update Provides Silver Lining for Yankees New York is having a brutal stretch, as its 201 runs allowed since July 1 is the third-most in MLB. While the team must improve its pitching and defense, it has a pathway to quickly improve its offense. Once Judge is ready to throw again, the Yankees can go back to starting him in right field with Stanton at designated hitter. If they both play to their full potential, then the team could shoot back up the standings. Stanton was the ALCS MVP last season, and Judge leads baseball with a .337 batting average and 1.137 OPS. Judge admitted on Sunday that he doesn't know when he'll be able to play the field again, but his throwing program is going well so far, via SNY. If the future Hall of Famer continues to avoid setbacks, it increases the chances that he'll return to the outfield before the playoffs.
One incoming NFL rookie has already gotten the biggest stamp of approval from superstar linebacker Micah Parsons. New York Giants linebacker Abdul Carter only played six snaps Saturday during his team’s preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills. But he sure made them count. Carter generated three quarterback pressures on his three pass rushes. He also held his own against four-time Pro Bowl left tackle Dion Dawkins in a couple of one-on-one matchups. The clip above caught the eye of Parsons. The Dallas Cowboys star predicted that Carter could surpass every other pass rusher in the NFL if he reaches his potential. “They asked me if Abdul could be a [sic] another great ! I told them he could be the best one!” Parsons wrote on X. Parsons may be considered biased, given that the Penn State alum shares an alma mater with Carter. However, many NFL scouts and front offices agree that Carter has that superstar gene similar to Parsons. The Giants picked Carter with the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after a standout final season at Penn State. The former Nittany Lion tallied 12.0 sacks and 24 tackles for a loss over 16 games as a junior. Carter got into some controversy in April after he requested to use Lawrence Taylor’s retired No. 56 as his jersey number. Taylor refused and instead challenged Carter to make his own number famous. After later asking for another Giants legend’s number, Carter finally settled on a different set of digits.
All the attention this weekend has been on Chelsea’s new signings Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian, and quite rightly so. They both shone in Friday night’s friendly, and we expect more of the same this afternoon when we face AC Milan. But in a year’s time we will have seen plenty of them – and there will be an exciting new name on the horizon. Quenda preparing for vital final season at Sporting Geovany Quenda was signed back in the spring for £40m, and much like with Estevao, Chelsea fans are going to have to wait to see him. He’s back on loan at Sporting for the season, where he came off the bench in their opening day win over Casa Pia. So while all attention is on our additions from this summer, the teenager can continue to develop where he is comfortable. All eyes will be on Rui Borges, the Sporting coach who replaced Ruben Amorim, and is now tasked with coaching our young talent: “This year, he’s doing very well. He just needs an opportunity, just like Geny Catamo. He’s been doing fantastically well, and he’ll have a great season,” Borges said. Geny Catamo has the right wing slot locked down right now, and Sporting are not going to develop Chelsea’s player more than they need to, but Quenda is so good that they’re not going to ignore him just to spite us. Quenda compares himself to the world’s best As well as keeping an eye on the new boys, it will be really interesting to see how Quenda gets on. Liam Twomey’s piece for the Athletic about him says that while some coaches have compared him to Bukayo Saka, Quenda looks more towards Lamine Yamal. Either of those will do just fine, thank you very much…
