Brad Keselowski's no good, very bad season continues at Kansas

If Brad Keselowski didn't have bad luck this season, he wouldn't have any luck at all.

The 2012 Cup Series champion looked to be in prime position for a top-five finish — and potentially a win — in Stage 3 of Sunday's AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway, but a flat tire on Lap 195 took Keselowski out of the race, relegating him to a 37th-place finish.

"It was a good day, it was going to be a great day," Keselowski told Fox Sports. "I felt like we had a shot to win. I didn't have much of a warning, I just went into turn 1, I heard a big boom, and around it went. It's unfortunate, (we were) playing to win. Right in the spot to do just that and it didn't come together."

Keselowski — along with Shane van Gisbergen, Chase Briscoe and Ty Gibbs, among others — suffered similar tire failures in Saturday's practice session.

Keselowski's 2025 season has come straight from a horror film, as the 37th-place finish on Sunday drops the Rochester Hills, Mich., native to 33rd in the standings. Keselowski is 321 points back of leader Kyle Larson and 110 points behind Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who currently holds the 16th and final provisional playoff spot.

While the 37th-place result is bad in and of itself, it's made worse by the fact that Sunday's race was the first time all season where Keselowski was truly in contention to win. A lack of speed, especially compared to the other RFK Racing cars, has plagued Keselowski and the No. 6 team all season.

Keselowski is now 12 races into the season without a top-10 finish — an 11th-place result at Las Vegas on March 16 is his best finish of the year — and hasn't finished better than 28th in nearly a month. With only three top-20 finishes to his credit through the first third of the season, Keselowski is dangerously close to already being in a must-win position in order to make the playoffs.

The Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 25 is a pivotal race for the No. 6 team as it looks for any semblance of momentum. If Keselowski is provided with another fast car, he may be able to make some magic happen at a time when he desperately needs a good finish.
