From a practical standpoint there were only two golfers on the course for the PGA Championship at Quail Hallow this weekend. There was Scottie Scheffler and then there was everybody else.
At least that is how it felt when the tournament concluded on Sunday.
Scheffler ended up lapping the field to claim his third career major championship, and his first that was not a Masters.
Prior to this weekend his other two majors were the 2022 and 2024 Masters.
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER IS A MAJOR CHAMPION ONCE AGAIN

He finished the tournament 11-under, shooting 273 for the weekend.
Nobody was closer than five strokes to him.
Had it not been for his existence — or stunning level of play — Sunday's round would have actually been a stunning and dramatic finish. The next group of golfers after Scheffler on the leaderboard saw six different golfers all within a single stroke of each other (at minus-6 and minus-5), including Bryson DeChambeau and Harris English. English had a particularly strong final round, shooting a 65 to skyrocket 34 spots up the leaderboard from where he started the day.
But none of it mattered, and most of it will get forgotten, due to the brilliance of Scheffler, who remains off to an incredible start to his career when it comes to the big-four tournaments. Even though he has "only" three wins in those majors, he has consistently been a top-25 (and top-10) finisher, while doing so at a rate that few others can match.

This is Scheffler's second win of the 2025 season, having also won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson two weeks ago where he tied the PGA 72-hole scoring record.
In total he has won his past two tournaments by a combined 13 strokes. He won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson by eight strokes.
