Wyndham Clark had a Happy Gilmore moment after his tee shot on the 16th hole at the PGA Championship on Sunday.
Clark struggled Sunday at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C., and his temper got the best of him on the 16th. After hitting a tee shot to the bunker, he lost his cool and smashed his driver in anger.
Not only did the head of the driver break off completely, but he came alarmingly close to actually hitting a volunteer with the club.

Clark’s rage could certainly be amusing to a neutral observer, but this was quite dangerous. The volunteer holding the flag could have easily been hurt.
Sunday was a frustrating day for Clark. He started by bogeying four of the first five holes, and while he was able to steady himself, that poor start eliminated any chance he had of being able to get anywhere near the top of the leaderboard. He wound up finishing with a +3 on the day and shot four over on the tournament, leaving him tied for 50th.
Unfortunately for Clark, performances like this have been all too common for him since his U.S. Open win in 2023.
