Browns' Myles Garrett's wild comment about Aaron Rodgers not a ringing endorsement

Cleveland Browns edge-rusher Myles Garrett can't wait to sack new Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers, 41, signed a one-year, $13.65M deal with the Steelers on Saturday. In the team's X post, he had a ring on his left finger, sparking speculation about whether he had secretly married his new partner, Brittani. Rodgers confirmed on Tuesday that he indeed did get married.

Garrett didn't give the QB a ringing endorsement at mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.

"I think it's a good opportunity to put him in the graveyard," the edge-rusher said of Rodgers joining the Steelers, via ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi.

Garrett, of course, has a decorative Halloween graveyard. It includes the tombstones of QBs he has sacked, such as Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens.

2023 Defensive Player of the Year Garrett could add Rodgers' name to the list twice this season. The Browns head to Pittsburgh on Oct. 12 and host the Steelers on Dec. 28.

Last season, Garrett dominated the Steelers. In two games against Pittsburgh, he had four sacks and eight pressures, per Pro Football Reference.

The Steelers offensive line was underwhelming throughout the 2024 season. According to Pro Football Reference, Pittsburgh allowed a 25.3 percent pressure rate, tied for the third highest in the league.

The Steelers are still clearly banking on offensive tackles Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu improving. They didn't take another tackle in the 2025 NFL Draft.

If that doesn't happen, that could become an even bigger problem, especially with an old QB. Rodgers has lost some of his mobility since tearing his left Achilles tendon in 2023. In 17 starts for the New York Jets in 2024, he took 40 sacks, the fifth most in his 20-year career.

Perhaps Garrett's comment will make Rodgers wonder if he should've just retired instead of playing this upcoming season.
