Kevin Durant, DeMarcus Cousins get into feud over Suns claim

Kevin Durant is calling out one of his former NBA teammates this week.

Ex-All-Star big man DeMarcus Cousins drew attention on Friday with an explosive claim he made about the Phoenix Suns. Cousins went on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back” and claimed that the Suns got into multiple fistfights with each other in the locker room this season.

“There was a lot of things that happened,” said Cousins of the Suns, per Bleacher Report. “There was a lot of things that haven’t been reported. I don’t wanna be the guy to report it, but I’ve definitely heard of some negative things in the locker room. There was a couple of fistfights. There was a lot going on that obviously carries over to the court.”

The major claim from Cousins led to a profane response from the Suns star Durant on X.

“I have to contest this 94 footer,” wrote Durant. “This some bulls–t to throw on us. Yea yea yea we were trash this year ha ha ha but we NEVER got close to this. NEVER.”

Cousins then fired back at Durant on X and matched his energy.

“The source was one of your teammates killa,” wrote Cousins to Durant. “And I wasn’t referring to you! . Save this s–t for the others homie…”

Cousins obviously didn’t name who his source was. But he did used to be teammates with a couple of current Suns, including Damion Lee on the 2018-19 Golden State Warriors and Monte Morris on the 2021-22 Denver Nuggets.

As for Durant, he himself used to be teammates with Cousins on those 2018-19 Warriors as well. The former MVP Durant is adamant that no kind of fistfighting occurred in the Suns’ locker room this season, while Cousins clearly heard that it did (but that it did not involve Durant). In any case, though, Phoenix clearly had a toxic environment this season, and that may culminate with Durant getting traded soon away.
