Markieff Morris rips Nikola Jokic for 'cheap shot' that caused injuries

It has been nearly four years since Markieff Morris and Nikola Jokic traded blows on the court, and Morris is still doubling down on Jokic being to blame for what happened.

The Morris twins appeared on Shaq’s “The Big Podcast” and the topic of their ongoing feud with the Jokic family came up. Shaq asked Markieff Morris if he felt Jokic had committed a cheap shot by going after Morris while his back was turned.

“That’s a cheap shot,” Morris said. “I did a basketball play. If you see that angle, I put my hand up. I let it known I’m coming towards you. I fouled him. It’s like a hard foul in the game.

“He hit me from behind. I think it’s a cheap shot. I’m physically walking away. I’m not even in the mode of knowing you’re about to hit me.”

Shaq did not seem to buy Morris’ take, pointing out that Morris hit Jokic first and should have expected some sort of retribution. On the other hand, the original incident Morris described certainly did not seem to warrant the response Jokic gave.

Morris went on to miss the bulk of the 2021-22 season due to injuries suffered as a result of the incident. The clash also led to a war of words between the Morris brothers and the Jokic brothers.

Nearly three years on, Morris still has bad feelings over the incident. Jokic probably isn’t planning to apologize anytime soon, especially if Morris is going to pin all the blame on him.
