Manchester City is closing in on a sensational move for Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, with the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper understood to have agreed to personal terms with Pep Guardiola’s side.
The 26-year-old Italy international is eager to make the switch, and negotiations are ongoing between the Premier League champions and PSG over a fee.
While the French club initially demanded €50M ($58.6M), talks are moving toward a reduced figure as Donnarumma enters the final year of his contract.

City’s pursuit of Donnarumma, however, hinges on the future of Ederson. The Brazilian has been central to Guardiola’s success at the Etihad but is attracting serious interest from Galatasaray.
The Turkish giants are believed to have submitted an opening bid of around €10M ($11.7M), though City is holding out for closer to €25M ($29.3M). Until that situation is resolved, Donnarumma’s potential arrival remains on hold.
Ederson has publicly played down speculation, dismissing exit rumors and insisting he is focused on City. Even so, the club’s decision to re-sign James Trafford from Burnley in a big-money deal, coupled with the interest in Donnarumma, suggests preparations are being made for a changing of the guard.
Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham, which featured a costly error from Trafford when playing out from the back, may have only strengthened Guardiola’s desire to secure an elite goalkeeper.
Donnarumma, who has won major honors internationally and domestically, offers stature and experience. Yet, doubts persist over his fit in Guardiola’s system, with critics pointing to his inconsistent distribution at PSG, a crucial attribute for City’s possession-heavy approach and high defensive line.
For PSG, cashing in would represent forward thinking. With a squad overhaul already underway, the Ligue 1 champions are reluctant to risk losing Donnarumma for free next summer and are willing to compromise on price.
If the deal is completed, Donnarumma would represent one of the most high-profile goalkeeping acquisitions in Premier League history. For Guardiola, it could be the defining move of a summer rebuild aimed at keeping City on top.
