Cal Raleigh has been chasing legends Salvador Perez and Mickey Mantle all season – and over the weekend he caught one. Raleigh hit two home runs in Seattle’s 11-4 win over the Athletics to reach 49 on the season and pass the future Hall of Famer Perez for the most long balls in a season by a catcher.
Next on Raleigh’s list is the switch-hitter home run record, and with just about a month left to close the five-dinger gap, Mickey Mantle’s all-time mark of 54 in 1961 is in serious danger.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to hit the most home runs in one Major League season while primarily playing each position in the field can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
