Chelsea have reached an agreement with Manchester United to sign Alejandro Garnacho in a deal worth around £40M ($54M), according to multiple reports.
The winger will sign a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with United also inserting a 10% sell-on clause.

Garnacho only wanted Chelsea and will sign seven year deal at the club for fee close to £40m package.

The fee makes Garnacho the most expensive academy graduate sale in United’s history, eclipsing previous departures such as David Beckham and Danny Welbeck.
It also ranks as the fourth-largest outgoing transfer in the club’s history, behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Angel Di Maria.
For United, the move represents pure profit and their biggest sale in five years, strengthening the club’s financial position as it works to stay within Profit and Sustainability Regulations.
Chelsea, meanwhile, continue a bold summer rebuild under Enzo Maresca. Garnacho becomes their fifth attacking recruit after Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Estevao and Jamie Gittens.
With spending now beyond £250M ($338M), the move highlights the club’s determination to refresh their squad and deepen competition across the front line.
For Garnacho, the transfer provides both a fresh start and his preferred destination. The 21-year-old was omitted from United’s preseason plans by new manager Ruben Amorim and was told earlier this summer he could leave.
While other clubs expressed interest, Garnacho reportedly made it clear he only wanted Chelsea, rejecting alternatives to secure the move.
Talks between the two clubs were drawn out. Chelsea’s opening bid of around £25M ($34M) was swiftly rejected, with United eventually negotiating the package up to £40M, including add-ons.
Both clubs now see the agreement as pragmatic. Chelsea land a long-term option in attack, while United secure a sizeable fee for a player no longer in Amorim’s plans.
The deal also illustrates contrasting approaches at two of England’s biggest clubs. Chelsea have leaned into an aggressive recruitment model, tying down young talent on long contracts as they aim to build a sustainable core.
United, by contrast, have focused on trimming the squad and generating funds. Garnacho’s departure highlights their readiness to cash in even on academy products when required, with midfielder Kobbie Mainoo also linked with a potential exit.
Garnacho is expected to join Maresca’s squad immediately, adding further competition to Chelsea’s attacking ranks. For the Argentina international, the move ends a period of uncertainty at Old Trafford and opens the door to a new chapter in west London.
