Bayern Munich has reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, according to Sky Sports, as the Bundesliga champions step up efforts to reinforce their attack before the transfer deadline.
The 24-year-old has agreed personal terms with Bayern, leaving negotiations between the two clubs to focus on the structure of the deal.
Chelsea is willing to sanction Jackson’s departure but only on the basis of a permanent transfer or a loan with an obligation to buy. Bayern, by contrast, has pushed for a season-long loan without an automatic purchase clause, a key sticking point in talks.
Jackson’s position at Stamford Bridge has been uncertain throughout the summer. Despite taking part in full training under Enzo Maresca, he has yet to feature in the Premier League this season.
He missed the opening fixture against Crystal Palace through suspension and has since slipped down the pecking order following the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.
The Senegal international has indicated he is open to considering his options in search of regular game time, with Bayern emerging as the frontrunners.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also believed to hold an interest, but the Bundesliga champions are now thought to be leading the chase.
Jackson joined Chelsea in 2023 and still has eight years remaining on his long-term deal. However, the club is mindful of balancing the squad and easing financial pressures.
His departure would help reduce commitments and create space for further additions, with Chelsea continuing to be linked with attacking targets including Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons.
For Bayern, the move reflects a need to strengthen depth and quality in attack. Injuries and fixture demands have left it short of options, and the club views Jackson as a player capable of adapting quickly to German football.
Talks are ongoing, and both sides remain optimistic of reaching an agreement before the window closes. If the issue of deal structure is resolved, Jackson’s move to the Allianz Arena could be finalized in the coming days.
