Amid a nightmare season, Josef Newgarden found a way to hold off four-time IndyCar champion Alex Palou and win Sunday's NTT IndyCar Series race at Nashville Superspeedway.
A restart with 11 laps to go led to shuffling throughout the running order, but Newgarden kept a gap to Palou and held on to score his first victory of 2025 at his home track.

As Newgarden climbed into the embrace of his home fans, Palou, who clinched the 2025 title at Portland on Aug. 10, did celebratory donuts in the infield to officially cap his dominant campaign.
Newgarden's season has featured myriad tribulations, but he found a path to victory lane on Sunday afternoon.
"I'm just glad we got one without anything going wrong," Newgarden told Fox Sports. "Just happy to celebrate this team. They deserve it. It's rewarding for our team. Tough year. Tough-tough year. But good to get a win here at the end."
Palou and Scott McLaughlin completed the podium, with Kyffin Simpson and Conor Daly rounding out the top five. Kyle Kirkwood, Felix Rosenqvist, Santino Ferrucci, Callum Ilott and Alexander Rossi completed the top-10.
Other notable finishers include Colton Herta in 11th, Scott Dixon in 12th, Will Power in 21st, Pato O'Ward in 24th and David Malukas in 26th.
