No. 13 Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier understands the noise that is about to head his way after losing to South Florida 18-16 on a last-second field goal on Saturday.
Following the loss, Napier was asked if he was "concerned" that talk about his future with the program would be scrutinized after the loss to USF, much like what happened during last season.
Napier acknowledged that Florida earned those discussions with their play on Saturday.
"Yes, it is," Napier said of his concern. "We created it. We deserve it. So, you know, if you play football like that, you're going to be criticized. It comes with the territory, right? So only thing you can do is go get it fixed, and that's what we'll start working on tomorrow."

It feels a little late for Napier to turn around his fortune in Gainesville. In its next six games, the Gators will play No. 3 LSU, No. 5 Miami, No. 7 Texas, No. 19 Texas A&M and No. 4 Georgia.
If Napier had an excuse for Saturday, USF has had an impressive start to 2025, upsetting then-No. 25 Boise State in Week 1. However, the Gators should have taken care of business at home in front of 89,909 fans at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Napier doesn't have a good record at Florida, going 20-20 in his first four seasons and is 10-14 in the SEC. Given the Gators schedule between now and Nov. 29, it's highly unlikely the talk about Napier's job security will go away anytime soon.
