Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk pointed out that Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys will have the second-longest winning streak for a quarterback against one opponent in NFL history if Prescott notches a 14th-straight victory over the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium this coming Sunday.
Rookie pass-rusher Abdul Carter made his official Giants debut in the club's Week 1 loss to the Washington Commanders and, thus, hasn't been part of Prescott’s dominant run against Big Blue. During a recent chat with Darryl Slater of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com, Carter brushed off talk regarding the fact that Prescott has gone 13-0 versus the Giants since he suffered two losses to New York as a first-year pro.
"We don’t really focus on that," Carter explained. "I wasn’t here last year. I wasn’t here the year before that. So that’s got nothing to do with me and this team that’s together for this year. That’s got nothing to do with us."
A majority of Giants-related stories throughout the week have been about head coach Brian Daboll starting veteran quarterback Russell Wilson over rookie Jaxson Dart against Dallas after Wilson largely left much to be desired with his play in the loss to the Commanders. That said, the Giants' defense impressed when it held the Washington offense to 14 points until Deebo Samuel finished a 19-yard touchdown run halfway through the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys could have been a couple of CeeDee Lamb catches away from defeating the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. Prescott completed 21-of-34 passes for 188 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions against Philadelphia. According to Pro Football Reference, he began Friday ranked 17th in the NFL among qualified players with a 60.1 adjusted QBR for the season.
"Obviously, he’s a good quarterback," Carter added during his comments about Prescott. "He’s the highest-paid quarterback in the league for a reason. We know that we’ve obviously got respect for him. But at the same time, we’ve got to go out there and attack. I know that we’re really good, too. And we’re going to go out there, and we’re going to attack him."
As of Friday morning, ESPN Bet had the Giants as 5.5-point underdogs for Sunday's matchup in Dallas. Perhaps Carter will use that spread to fire up his teammates ahead of what is a pivotal game for both sides.
